Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in to the Broker Panel.
  • You have an authenticator app that can scan a QR code.

Procedure

Two-factor setup dialog with QR code and verification field
  1. Open the user menu in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Account Settings.
  3. Select the Login & Security tab.
  4. Find Two-Factor Authentication.
  5. Select Enable 2FA.
  6. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
  7. Enter the six-digit code from the app in Verification Code.
  8. Select Verify & Enable.
The panel shows Save Your Backup Codes after it verifies the code. Two-factor authentication is active at this point. If you cancel before verification, the panel does not enable two-factor authentication.

Save Your Backup Codes

The panel creates 10 backup codes when you enable two-factor authentication. It shows these codes one time.
  1. Select Copy All to copy the codes, or select Download to save a text file.
  2. Store the codes in a secure location.
  3. Select I’ve Saved My Codes.
Each backup code can be used only once. Do not store the codes only on the device that has your authenticator app.

Recover Access With A Backup Code

Use this procedure if you cannot get a code from your authenticator app.
  1. Enter your email address and password on the sign-in page.
  2. Select Sign in.
  3. Select Use Backup Code Instead on the Two-Factor Authentication screen.
  4. Enter one saved code in Backup Code.
  5. Select Verify Backup Code.
Select Back to Authenticator Code if you can use your authenticator app instead.
A successful backup-code recovery disables two-factor authentication and clears all remaining backup codes. Open Account Settings, select Login & Security, and enable two-factor authentication again after you sign in.
The sign-in page has no other self-service recovery option. You must have your email address, password, and either an authenticator code or a saved backup code when two-factor authentication is enabled.

Disable Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Open the user menu in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Account Settings.
  3. Select the Login & Security tab.
  4. Find Two-Factor Authentication.
  5. Select Disable 2FA.
  6. Enter the current six-digit authenticator code in Verification Code.
  7. Select Disable 2FA.
The panel shows Two-Factor Authentication is Disabled. It also clears your backup codes.

Sign Out

  1. Open the user menu in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Log out.
The panel ends your session and opens the sign-in page.
